Just over a week ago, Mo’s parent’s came to us seeking help. Little Mo was born on the 10th of June with a heart defect and needed urgent surgery. His family are vulnerable refugees and were unable to cover the costs. Thankfully the UN covered 75% so we asked all of you to help us secure the rest of the funds as quickly as possible. Within hours, we were overwhelmed with donations and we cannot express how appreciative we are, as are Mo and his family. We were able to raise more than double the $350 we required to cover the immediate medical costs. Thankfully, the operation went smoothly and Mo is in a good and stable condition and recovering well.
With the extra support received, we told Mo’s father that we want to use this to help provide for Mo’s after-care and to also help ensure his family don’t have to worry about rent these next few months. It’s amazing how a small number of people around the world can come together to save a life like this. Thank you to everyone who has made this possible!
Our community is struggling through the multiple crises of COVID-19, Political instability, the ongoing refugee crisis and a devastating economic collapse that has wiped out savings and caused the price of some goods to increase by as much as 5 times. The cold reality is that many families in our community are really struggling to put food on the table like we have never seen before.
We currently help ensure several families have stable food supply but of course this eats into other budgets allocated for our work with children. We are setting this up as a separate donation stream so when we do supply food, other projects do not lose out. We have a small supply of foods that we give directly to those in need, whether they are in the refugee camps or elsewhere in the Lebanese community, and we also work with local greengrocers to ensure the neediest families have easy and discreet access to healthy food. Please help in any way you can by donating or sharing – we really appreciate it!
